After a strong run in his heat race, Schultz started on the pole in the feature event.
Rob Muilenburg started on the outside of row one with Justin Moon and Jeremy Cobb in row two. As the green flag flew, Schultz went to work with Moon moving in on his bumper. A caution flag flew as things unfolded quickly on lap two. Two cars went to the pits and Cobb went off the top of the track on the backstretch sending him to the tail of the field.
Schultz, Moon, Muilenburg, Terry Kirk and Mickey Burrell were in the top five. On the restart, Kirk took third from Muilenburg. With five laps complete, Schultz had already built up over half a straight away lead over Moon. Nathan Vaughn and Dean Wille were on the move through the field of cars and battling each other for fifth.
With eight laps in the books, Vaughn passed Muilenburg and Wille’s car went up in smoke sending him straight to the pits. Five laps were left in the race and Schultz had run away and hid from second-place runner Moon.
Kirk took third with Vaughn and Burrell finishing in the top five.

In the Xtreme Motors Street Stock feature event, two hard charges and no strangers to the winner’s circle started on the front row. Ted Welschmeyer and Sundance Keepper did the honors with Marc Carter and Kevin Perkins in row two.
Keepper quickly shot to the lead in the feature event with Welschmeyer, Perkins, Carter and Jeremy Gordon trying to track him down. Past fast track champion Scott Krause took fifth from Gordon on lap two after picking off Dean Wille. A caution on lap four bunched the field back up and Carter tried to take third from Perkins, but he was having none of that. Wille took sixth from Gordon on the restart.
With half the race in the books, Keepper had built up almost a full straight away lead over Welschmeyer. Perkins and Carter continued to battle throughout the race.
When Keepper crossed the finish line Welschmeyer was just entering the backstretch in second place. Perkins picked up third. Krause and Wille rounded out the top five places.

Colt Cheevers and Darrin Claxton started on the front row in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified feature event Friday night with Bob Russell and Gary Lewis in row two. The Cinderella story for the night was Stephen Muilenburg, who was able to make the feature event after taking a hard tumble over turns three and four.
Muilenburg jumped the first start of the feature sending him from seventeenth to the tail of the field. The race turned quickly into three-wide racing into turns three and four hanging Jacob Grotewiel out to dry. He went over the edge of the track and gave up several positions.
Cheevers took the lead with Claxton and Ben Kates in hot pursuit. Kates had moved into second and set his sights on Cheevers as Cheevers pulled his modified into the infield of the track. Kates continued to charge spacing himself from the field of cars and catching lap traffic on lap seven. The battle for second entertained fans as Lewis and Claxton swapped places. Claxton momentarily lost control in turns two on lap nine giving Lewis and Billy Bentley the advantage to work in front of him.
Claxton continued to lose ground with less than a handful of laps left. Tyler Lewis moved into fourth in front of Claxton on lap eleven.
Kates his first L A Raceway feature win of the season with Gary Lewis, Bentley, Tyler Lewis and Claxton rounding out the top five. Bentley was unable to pass technical inspections after the race and was disqualified moving Claxton to fourth. Muilenburg finished fifth after working his way all the way from tail of the field.

In the Gill Signs/Specialty Sportswear 305 Sprints, Mitchell Moore and Tom McGarry started on the front row. Moore quickly took the lead with Michael Schouten trailing McGarry for second. With four laps completed, Schlender had moved into fourth with Matt McGarry on his tail.
Tom McGarry began losing ground as Schouten took second on lap nine. Two laps later, Schlender took third. Cody Baker had taken fifth from Matt McGarry and set his sights on Matt’s father, Tom.
A caution on lap 12 gathered the field back together leaving a lap car between first and second place. Moore took off leaving Schouten to get around the lapped car. Baker took fourth from Tom McGarry on the restart.
Schlender got the run he needed on Schouten as he took second from him with just two laps left in the feature.
Moore took the win with Schlender, Schouten, Baker and Tom McGarry finishing in the top five.

In the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stocks, Luke Skidmore started on the pole with Steven Tyler on the outside. Skidmore quickly took the lead as Tyler fell back to sixth place. John Simpson settled into second with Michael Tyler and Joey Arnold nipping at his heels.
Michael Tyler took second from Simpson on lap five. Arnold’s car came to a halt in turn two leaving him done for the night. With only four laps left in the feature event, Steven Tyler had moved into third behind Michael Tyler. Two laps later, his car broke something and he shot straight off the track in turn three and stopped sending him to the trailer.
Skidmore took the feature win with Michael Tyler, Simpson, Ronnie Livengood and Mark Harrison taking top honors.

L A Raceway invites fan to continue to join them through July’s “Month of Speed” with Yeager’s Cycle Race Night on Friday, July 16, and Pro Summer Outlaw Shoot Out Flat Track Motorcycles on Saturday, July 17.

For more information about the track, visit http://www.laraceway.com/.

L A Raceway
July 9, 2010
Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 90 Terry Schultz, Sedalia, Mo. Cheevers had built up almost a full straight away lead when the caution flag came out for Bob Russell who looped his racer in turn two. With four laps complete, Brooks had already worked his way into seventh place.
On the restart, Brockway took his best shot at Cheevers going into turns one and two, but Cheevers pulled away as they went down the backstretch. Brooks used the restart to his advantage and moved into fifth. A few laps later, Jacob Grotewiel took second from Brockway.
Another caution flew on lap 10 when Darin Claxton spun out on the backstretch and collected Ernie Walker. Brooks moved into fourth on the restart in front of Gary Lewis after they had spent several laps battling each other.
With a handful of laps left, drivers put on their top game and tried to move forward. Brooks took third from Brockway on lap 11. Grotewiel was rim riding and got pulled off the track in the top of turns three and four giving up several positions. One lap later, Brooks drove past Cheevers down the backstretch.
Brooks picked up the feature win with Cheevers, Brockway, Lewis and Josh Calvert rounding out the top five finishes.

In the 20-lap Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified feature event, Dustin Boney started on the pole with Terry Schultz to the outside.
Boney quickly took the lead and no one could catch him. Schultz settled into second with Jesse Stovall in third. Jason Thompson and James McMillin battled for fourth.
McMillin took fourth after a caution on lap three. Stovall continued to hold on strong to third until he took his car to the pits.
Schultz started to gain on Boney towards the end of the feature but ran out of laps. Boney took the win with Schultz, McMillin, Thompson and Scotty Roberts finishing in the top five.

Matt Close and Ryan Schlender started on the front row in the Gill Signs/Specialty Sportswear 305 Sprints feature event.
By the completion of lap one, Schlender lead the field of cars with Close, Haley Arnold, Matt McGarry and Miranda Arnold filing in behind him. A caution on lap five sent Tyler Utz and Miranda Arnold to the tail of the field.
Michael Schouten used the restart to his advantage and took fourth from Haley Arnold. Two more cautions and very slow starts from Schlender, didn’t affect the standings of the top five running sprinters.
A caution with only four laps to complete the race occurred when Utz looped his sprinter in turn one and Lacy Harrison had to get on the brakes hard to stay off of Utz and she makes contact. Her sprinter began to tip over but then settled on all four wheels.
Racing resumed and Schouten almost took third from McGarry with only two laps left, but McGarry retaliated. While Schouten wasn’t looking, Haley Arnold drove right past him as the white flag flew.
Schlender picked up another feature win with Close, McGarry, Haley Arnold and Schouten finishing out the top five.

In the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stocks, Luke Skidmore started on the pole with Joey Arnold to his right. Skidmore took the lead bringing Michael Tyler and Donald Grotzinger with him. John Simpson followed pursuit and moved into fourth in front of Arnold by the completion of lap one.
Schlender continued to lead with Grotzinger in second. Tyler, who was setting in third, took his car to the pits on lap nine. Arnold and Simpson battled back and forth for third.
Schlender took the checkered flag with a full straight away lead over Grotzinger. Arnold, Simpson and Steven Tyler finished in the top five.

Dean Wille and Ted Welschmeyer had a very rocky start in the Xtreme Motors Street Stock feature event Friday night. There was quite a bit of contact between the two going into turns one and two with Wille coming out with the lead. However, Jeremy Gordon spun out in turn two and caused a complete restart.
On the restart, Welschmeyer walked away with the lead leaving Wille in second with Jay Prevete, Scott Krause and Kevin Perkins right on his tail.
Krause moved into third by the completion of lap two. One lap later, Prevete lost control of his car and had to get on the brakes allowing Perkins to pass him.
A caution on lap five gave Krause the advantage he needed to take second from Wille. He looked like he would catch Welschmeyer but then drifted really high in turn two allowing Perkins and Wille to drive under him.
Five more cautions in the feature shook the field up allowing Krause to move back into second with Perkins, Wille and Chad Eckhoff in the top five.
Krause charged again for the lead but was denied it by Welschmeyer. Perkins and Wille battled to the finish with Wille earning third. Eckhoff finished fifth.

For more information about the track, visit www.laraceway.com.

L A Raceway
June 25, 2010
Official Results

Gill Signs/Specialty Sportswear 305 Sprint Feature
1. 15S Ryan Schlender, Sedalia, MO (2)
2. 5 Matt Close, LaMonte, MO (1)
3. 31 Matt McGarry, Alma, MO (3)
4. 165 Haley Arnold, Sedalia, MO (4)
5. 27 Mike Schouten, LaMonte, MO (8)
6. 5M Miranda Arnold, Sedalia, MO (6)
7. 14 Andrew Turley, Sedalia, MO (12)
8. 38 Cody Baker, Lone Jack, MO (5)
9. 9 Casey Baker, Lone Jack, MO (10)
10. 07S Greg Smith, Lincoln, MO (11)
11. 98 Tyler Utz, Sedalia, MO (9-DNF)
12. 99 Lacy Harrison, LaMonte, MO (7-DNF)
13. 51 Mitchell Moore, Edgerton, KS (13-DNF)
14. 81A Lane Stone, Concordia, MO (14-DNS)

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 22 Dustin Boney, Tonganoxie, KS (1)
2. 90 Terry Schultz, Sedalia, MO (2)
3. 8M James McMillin, Warrensburg, MO (3)
4. 20 Jason Thompson, Concordia, MO (5)
5. 25X Scotty Roberts, Columbia, MO (9)
6. 12 Scotty Allen, Urbana, MO (7)
7. 12M Christopher Moon, Sedalia, MO (8)
8. 33 Stephen Muilenburg, Sparta, MO (15)
9. 12V Nathan Vaughn, Lincoln, MO (12)
10. 21M Steve Martin, Ozark, MO (16)
11. 88B David Barker, Kingsville, MO (14)
12. John Brooks, of Warrensburg; Jason Thompson, of Concordia; Ted Welschmeyer, of Tebbetts; Luke Skidmore, of Green Ridge; and Ryan Schlender, of Sedalia, picked up feature wins during The Bar 98.50/KOKO 1450 night at the races.

In the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified feature event, Gary Lewis started on the pole after Bob Russell opted to start tailback. Lewis quickly took the lead bringing John Brooks with him leaving Tyler Lewis, who started outside row one, in third.
Colt Cheevers took third from Tyler Lewis through turns one and two on the second lap of the race. Brooks made his move for the lead over Gary Lewis that same lap going into turn three.
Brooks stretched his lead over the second place battle between Gary Lewis and Cheevers. It looked like Cheevers would accomplish his mission on lap six but had to get on the brakes to keep from spinning in turn three.
A caution caused by Christie Thomason was just the remedy that Cheevers was looking for. On the restart of lap nine, Cheevers sailed around the high side of turns one and two passing Gary Lewis and moving into second.
Cheevers was gaining ground on Brooks and just as the white flag was over the field of cars, Brooks got into lap traffic going into three and it looked like Cheevers was going to get the break he needed. Brooks gathered it back up and flew right under the lapped car. He took the feature win with Cheevers in close second. Gary Lewis finished third, Darin Claxton in fourth and Chris Brockway rounded out the top five.

After several complete restarts in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified feature event, Scotty Allen took the lead after starting in the pole position. Ed Griggs came up with the lead once out of five restarts but the one that counted wasn’t the one he lead.
Griggs fell into second for two laps until Thompson was able to move around him. Aaron Poe and Griggs battled back and forth for third place. Poe had comfortably settled into third by lap eight and Nathan Vaughn held onto fifth.
A few cautions gathered the field of cars back up but the top three cars were steady. James McMillin took fifth from Vaughn on lap 13 going into turns one and two. He took fourth from Griggs two laps later. Terry Schultz began to charge as well after having a rough start earlier in the race.
The white flag flew over the field when McMillin drove his modified in deep into turn one and made contact with Poe. This resulted in Poe spinning around and coming to a halt in top of the turns. He was finished for the night.
Racing resumed and Thompson continued to space himself from the rest of the cars. Schultz had moved into fourth behind McMillin for a brief moment until he used horsepower to drive around McMillin coming out of two. Vaughn and Terry Kirk followed Schultz.
Thompson took the checkered flag with Allen, Schultz, Vaughn and Kirk rounding out the top five.

In the Xtreme Motors Street Stocks, the nine-car field was able to finish the feature event with only one caution after the completion of lap one.
Welschmeyer took the lead over Carter and kept adding space. Dean Wille was sitting in third as the top three cars spaced themselves from the pack and each other.
Jeremy Gordon was holding solidly onto fourth until lap eight when Kevin Perkins and Scott Krause joined in to take over fourth position.
Welschmeyer crossed the finish line with a sizeable lead over the rest of the street stocks. Carter took second with Wille, Perkins and Krause rounding out the top honors.

Luke Skidmore started on the pole in the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stocks division with Harold Dump on the outside. Skidmore and Dump came out of turn two side by side during the start of the race. They make a little contact in the final turns on lap one and Dump came out with the lead.
On lap three, Skidmore took the lead running down the backstretch. Three laps later, Dump loses his wheel going into turn three and almost lost control of the car. He was towed to the pits and was done for the evening’s event.
This moved Michael Tyler up to battle Skidmore for the lead. Danny Crum, Stephen Tyler and Ronnie Livengood rounded out the battle for top five finishes.
Stephen Tyler took third from Crump going into turn one with just one lap left. Skidmore took the feature win by a full straight away lead. Michael Tyler, Stephen Tyler, Crum and Livengood finished in the top five.

Ryan Schlender started on the pole with Michael Schouten to his right in the Specialty Sportswear/Gill Signs 305 Sprints. Schlender quickly went to work leading the pack. Schouten and Lacy Harrison settled into the top three and were consistent throughout the race.
A couple of cautions gathered the sprinters back up but Schlender continued to pull away from the field. The second restart gave Chad Shields the advantage he needed to pass Harrison for third. Matt Close was sitting in fifth and began working on trying to get around Harrison. With only three more turns to go, Close drove his sprinter in deep on turn one and two and had to get on the brakes to not get into Harrison. He spun out and was unable to finish the race giving Cody Baker the fifth place finish.
Schlender picked up his second consecutive feature win at L A Raceway with Schouten, Shields, Harrison and Baker finishing in top honors.

Next Friday, June 25, is Pitts Homes of Warsaw night at the races. L A Raceway invites fans to come watch the A Modifieds, B Modifies, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks and 305 Sprints hit the track to race towards the title of season champion.
For more information about the track, visit http://www.laraceway.com/.

L A Raceway
June 18, 2010
Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 20 Jason Thompson, Concordia, Mo. Cody Baker slid into the third spot from the outside of row two start, followed closely by Mark Shirshekan and Rusty Potter.
By lap three, the pack had just started to get lined out when Baker slid off the top of the cushion on three and four and brought out the first caution of the night, forcing him to tail the field on the restart.
On the restart lap, Potter also fell prey to the marbles on the top of three and four, bringing out another caution, sending him to the rear. This moved Shirshekan into the third spot, followed by Tyler Blank in fourth.
For the next several laps Alumbaugh started to put a little distance between himself and Cornell working the top of the track, while Cornell drove hard at the bottom trying to keep himself within striking distance.
As the race wore on the track conditions started to change and Cornell started chipping away at the lead that Alumbaugh had enjoyed.
By lap 13, Cornell had erased the leaders advantage and pulled even as they fought their way through heavy lap traffic.
“Austin started out strong and had a good first couple of laps, but I thought if I just stay patient maybe it’ll come to us,” said Cornell. “We decided to go with one setup, if it works it works and if it doesn’t it doesn’t, but the car was working good on top or bottom, which is what we needed in lap traffic.”
After following the leader for the first 16 laps, Cornell found the line he was looking for and powered his way into the lead. Alumbaugh tried several attempts to grab by the lead, but Cornell held him off to grab the checkered.
Alumbaugh held on for the runner-up spot with Shirshekan taking third. Blank followed in fourth and Eric Todd rounded out the top five.

In the A Modified feature, Concordia’s Jason Thompson made his way to the victory lane for the first time this season at LA, fighting his way through the pack to take the win from his inside fifth row start.
At the drop of the green, Urbana’s Scotty Allen grabbed the quick lead from his outside row one start, followed by current points leader Stephen Muilenburg, but Allen broke loose and slid off the cushion on three and four on the second lap sending him to the rear.
Muilenburg took over the lead on the restart, with Rick Beebe taking over second, followed by Terry Schultz and Matt Dotson.
By lap five, Schultz moved into the second spot, while Thompson had made his way through the pack to take over the fourth.
Shultz continued his push forward and grabbed the lead on the backstretch on lap eight, as Thompson continued forward and moved into third.
Two laps later, Thompson drove down low into one and two and took over the second spot, setting his eyes on Shultz in the lead.
On lap 15, Thompson again went to the inside, this time on three and four and grabbed the lead and never looked back. Shultz kept pace with the leader, but never able to take back the lead, taking second. Muilenburg took the third spot, with Beebe and Dotson rounding out the top five.

In the Street Stock feature, Dean Wille blasted into the lead from his outside row one position out of turn one and never looked back.
A battle for second and third quickly came alive, as Kevin Perkins, Victor Sims, Sundance Keepper and Ted Welschmeyer all fought for positions.
But on lap three Keepper got tangled up on three and four taking him out of contention, bringing out the caution, with Welschmeyer moving into third.
By lap five, Scott Krause and Marc Carter both broke into the top five and set their sights on the leaders.
Two laps later Welschmeyer found room at the bottom of the track on three and four and grabbed the second spot away from Perkins, with Krause a close third, while Sims was attempting to hold off a hard-charging Carter. But one lap later Carter made his move on the backstretch and slid into the fourth.
The line up would remain the same for the final five laps with Wille grabbing the checkered, followed by Welschmeyer. Perkins held on for third with Krause and Carter rounding out the top five.

It was another action packed race in the 305 Sprint Car class. Edgerton’s Ks. Mitchell Moore and Sedalia’s Ryan Schlender came into the night tied in the point’s race, and would make it a nail-biter until the checkered flag.
Moore held the pole position and jumped into the lead at the start, with Austin Alumbaugh closely behind in second, with LaMonte’s Mike Schouten edging into third and Matt McGarry in fourth.
The raced slowed on lap five when Haley Arnold got loose on three and four and brought out a caution. On the restart Schlender took advantage of the situation and fought his way into the fourth spot.
Schouten battled wheel-to-wheel with Alumbaugh for the next several laps for the second spot, but was never able to get around, meanwhile Schlender was working his own strategy and slid around Schouten on three and four on lap 13 to grab third.
One lap later, Alumbaugh lost power coming out of turn four and coasted to a stop on the front stretch, bringing out another caution and moving Schlender into second with two laps remaining. But on the restart, the track lost its lights on the backstretch, giving fans and racers a 20 minute unexpected delay.
Schlender again took advantage of the restart and blasted to the inside on one and two and grabbed the lead, and never gave Mitchell a chance on the final two laps to regain his position.
Schlender took the checkered, giving him a one-point advantage in the point standings, with Mitchell second, followed by Schouten in third. Matt Close battled up to grab fourth and Tyler Utz fought forward from his eighth place start to take fifth.

In the B-Mod feature, Colt Cheevers grabbed a quick lead at the start, but points leader Gary Lewis took over the lead on lap two.
After chasing Lewis for several laps, Cheevers made his way back into the lead on lap seven and held on until the checkered. Ernie Walker grabbed third place honors, with Josh Calvert and Cliff Hamilton rounding out the top five.

In the Hobby Stock class, Luke Skidmore grabbed his fourth feature of the season, giving him a 39-point lead in the point standings.
Skidmore wasted little time grabbing the lead from his inside row one position and made everyone else play follow-the-leader for the remainder of the race.
Jay Prevete settled into second and Michael Tyler edged into third. The top three spots would stay the same from start to finish. Steven Tyler was the man on the move during race, moving up from his 10th place start to take fourth and Ronnie Livengood finished fifth.
This Friday is The Bar 98.5/KOKO 1450 night at the races, with five big classes of racing, hot laps begin at 7p.m. races at 7:30, see you at the races.

L A Raceway
Official Results
June 11, 2010

Winged Outlaw Warrior 360 Sprint Feature
1. 28 Jonathan Cornell (1)
2. 33 Austin Alumbaugh (2)
3. 3 Mark Shirshekan (5)
4. 75 Tyler Blank (6)
5. 21T Eric Todd (18)
6. 86 Don Droud, Jr. (17)
7. 1X Bradlee Ryun (7)
8. 3P Rusty Potter (8)
9. 88 J Kinder (9)
10. 9M Jon Corbin (10)
11. 18W Chris Walker (16)
12. 1A Adam Jones (3)
13. 14K Kyle Bellm (12)
14. 76 Jay Russell (14)
15. 72 Curtis Boyer (11)
16. 10 Mike Trent (13)
17. 38 Cody Baker (4)
18. 4 Rex Combs (15)
19. 12C Faron Crank (19)
20. 11C Dakota Carroll (20)

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 20 Jason Thompson, Concordia, Mo. In the start of the race, Lacy Harrison and Andrew Turley got hooked up. Turley grazed the front stretch wall and Harrison’s sprinter bouncing off all four tires in disconnected patterns resulting in Harrison’s sprinter ending up on its side.
When racing resumed, Schlender took the lead with Mitchell Moore right on his tail. Both racers are no stranger to victory circle. Moore has won two features this season, Schlender has picked up one and Matt Close claimed the other.
Schouten settled into third with the Arnold sisters, Haley and Miranda, behind him. With 10 laps complete, Matt McGarry and Randy Roberts got hooked together resulting in Roberts going for one heck of a ride crumbling his sprinter into a ball.
The single-file, bunched-upped restart is exactly what Moore need and Schlender didn’t want. Schlender drove the bottom and Moore sailed around the top of the track. When they entered turn three, Moore drove his car deep into turn three and slid up in front of Schlender making a little contact but took the lead.
Laps winded down as Schlender tried to catch Moore, but was unsuccessful. Schouten finished third with Haley and Miranda Arnold rounding out the top five.

There were several cautions in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified feature event Friday night that gave Stephen Muilenburg the edge he needed to pick up the win.
Rusty Weir began on the pole with Colson Kirk on the outside. With the drop of the green, Weir took the lead bringing Stephen Muilenburg with him. After completing lap one, Muilenburg made his move going into turn one and two and took the lead from Weir down the back stretch. Nathan Vaughn, last Friday night’s feature winner, settled into third with Terry Schultz breathing down his neck.
With six laps completed, Schultz had moved into third putting Terry Kirk on the rear bumper of Vaughn. Three laps later, Schultz took second from Weir. Gary Lewis was the driver to watch as he started eleventh and was working his way one by one through the pack.
For several laps, Lewis and Justin Moon were battling back and forth in mid-pack. On lap 11, Lile picked off Moon coming out of turn two and then took sixth from Christopher Moon coming out of turn four.
Justin Moon caused the fifth caution of the night when he slammed into the front stretch wall showering the front stretch with sparks and parts.
On lap 17 of racing, Weir was holding steady in third until he got his modified out of sync. He was able to gather it back together but forfeited three positions. A caution caused by Ralph King gathered the cars together again with just two laps left. On the restart, Weir ran over the cone sending him to the tail of the field.
Schultz found the cushion he wanted on the high side of the track while Muilenburg was running the low side. As the laps winded down, Muilenburg drifted up to make sure he could keep the lead over Schutlz, who is definitely no stranger to the winner’s circle or the 3/8-mile track for that matter.
Muilenburg held off Schultz for the feature win. Terry Kirk took third, Lile finished fourth and Vaughn finished fifth.
With the two spin rule in effect, accidents and malfunctions, the A Modified class started with 20 cars and ended with eleven crossing the finish line.

In the Xtreme Motors Street Stocks, Ted Welschmeyer started on the pole with Scott Krause on his right. Krause is a past fast track champion and wasn’t going to give up easily. Racing came to a halt after cars got crossed up in turn two resulting in Danny Carroll landing on his top.
Racing resumed and the battle for the lead was heating up. After a few laps, Krause took the lead and wasn’t going to let Welschmeyer have it. Krause had stretched his lead over Welschmeyer out but got dangerously high in turns three and four and had to back out of it.
A caution flew as David Thompson looped his street stock in the bottom of turn two with just two laps left, reeling Krause back in for Welschmeyer.
Welschmeyer tried to pick off Krause, but it was no good. The checkered flag flew and Krause took the feature win. Welschmeyer, Kevin Perkins, Allen Perryman and Jeremy Gordon finished in the top honors.

In the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified, Chris Brockway and Colt Cheevers began on the front row after picking up the heat race wins of the evening.
Brockway and Cheevers went into turn one side by side, but Cheevers looked like he got “shot out of a colt gun,” according to track announcer Bob Ramey. Jeremy Lile fell into third with Ernie Walker and Tyler Lewis in behind him.
By the completion of lap four, Cheevers had built up a strong lead over the battle for second. On lap 10, Lile pulled up beside Brockway as they raced down the backstretch. At the completion of the next lap, Lile moved into second.
Cheevers took the checkered flag with about a half track lead over the second placed Lewis. Brockway finished third with Tyler Lewis and Dean Wille finishing in the top five. Tyler Lewis was unable to pass technical inspections after the race moving Wille into fourth and Walker into fifth.

In the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stocks, the young and talented Luke Skidmore once again picked up a feature win at L A Raceway this season. Skidmore made his third trip this season to the winner’s circle Friday night only being beat out last week by Jay Prevete.
With the start of the race, Skidmore and Prevete began battling where the left off last week until Prevete began losing part to his left rear wheel.
When racing resumed, Michael Tyler stepped up to pressure Skidmore for the trophy. With four laps remaining, Skidmore had stretched the lead out over Tyler by a full straight away.
Taking third in the feature was Douglas Coffey. Steven Tyler and Ronnie Livengood rounded out the top five for the event.
The Missouri National Guard provided military vehicle displays and Soldiers to present the trophies to the night’s winners.
For more information about the track, visit http://www.laraceway.com/.

L A Raceway
June 4, 2010
Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 33 Stephen Muilenburg, Sparta, Mo. Three years ago, he moved into an A modified and last Friday night he picked up his first feature win.
“I don’t think he can even believe it,” said Debbie Vaughn, Nathan’s mother after the race Friday night.
Stephen Muilenburg and Chad Staus started on the front row with Curt Potter and Nathan Vaughn behind them.
Muilenburg took the lead bringing Potter with him. Staus, Justin Moon and Vaughn settled in the top five. With almost two laps completed, Muilenburg looped his modified in the bottom of turn four and took a brief trip through the infield losing positions to Potter, Staus, Moon and Vaughn. Potter brought the caution flag out as he looped his car in turn two with the field of cars being able to drive around him unharmed.
On the restart, Moon tried to take the lead from Staus but was unsuccessful. Vaughn made his move on Moon down the backstretch on lap six moving into second. A three-way battle between Moon, Donnie Fellers and Muilenburg began to unfold throughout the next laps.
Staus had the lead when they completed lap seven but only for a few feet as Vaughn shot past him like he was shot from a cannon. One lap later, Staus slowed to a crawl in turns one and two bringing out a caution. He went to the pits to have a left rear tire repaired and was able to get back out on the track.
With another lap in the books, Staus spun his car around and collected the 5K of Ralph King. Vaughn continued to charge with only seven laps left in the race and Fellers inching closer and closer.
As the checkered flag was displayed, Vaughn, Fellers and Muilenburg were not giving up as they came three wide across the finish line.
Vaughn had beaten the two across the line by a nose. Fellers picked up second and Muilenburg finished third. Potter and Moon rounded out the top five.
“The strategy was to stay with No. 33 (Muilenburg) and run for second,” said Bill Vaughn, Nathan’s father. But the Vaughn family was very happy with the night’s turnout.

The Specialty Sportswear/Gill Signs 30 feature event took an emotional turn as the field of 11 cars formed a “missing-man formation” for their parade lap in honor of Jesse “The Rocket” Hockett, who recently lost his life in an electrical accident.
Hockett once again took the pole, but in an imaginary respect. Hockett was a local favorite at the track and had won features at L A Raceway.
Mitchell Moore and Ryan Schlender made up the front row in the feature event. Both drivers are no strangers to victory at the track.
Michael Schouten had a couple mishaps in the first two laps that sent him to the trailer early in the event. Moore quickly shot to the lead with Schlender right behind him. Randy Roberts was in third running the top rim of the track. This worked to his advantage as he moved into second by the completion of lap two.
Tyler Utz settled into fourth with Matt McGarry in fifth. Roberts got too high coming out of turn two on lap seven giving up second to Schlender. A caution flew on lap nine gathering the pack together putting three hard-charging drivers next to each other to battle for first.
Roberts pressured Schlender for second and was able to take it from him with five laps remaining in the feature event. Haley Arnold rocketed through the pack and picked off McGarry and Utz. McGarry looped his sprinter in turn two with only three laps remaining.
Moore took the trophy with Roberts, Schlender, Arnold and Utz taking top honors in the 305 class.

In the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stocks A feature event, Jay Prevete started on the pole with Luke Skidmore on the outside. As the green flag flew, Skidmore took the lead with Prevet, Joey Arnold, Steven Tyler and Harold Dump falling in behind. Before the completion of lap one, Dump took fourth from Tyler and one lap later moved into third.
Skidmore and Prevete moved away from the pack to settle the battle for the lead between the two of them. Five cautions throughout the race bunched the field of cars back up making the battle for third interesting between Arnold, Tyler and Michael Tyler.
A green, white, checkered finish gave Prevete the edge he needed. He stayed with Skidmore through the first lap, then began working the high side, low side and anything in between. Coming out of turn four with the checkered flag in sight, Prevete gunned it on the outside and crossed the line by a nose before Skidmore.
Michael Tyler, Arnold and Steven Tyler rounded out the top five honors for the evening’s event.

After some fancy driving, Steven Muilenburg picked up the feature win in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified feature event, but was then disqualified after not being able to pass technical inspections.
Muilenburg started on the pole with Colt Cheevers to his right. Cheevers quickly took the lead with Muilenburg and Ethan Isaacs following in pursuit. After the completion of lap one, cars were racing three-wide down the backside of the race track. Jacob Ebert came out ahead in the battle with Jeremy Lile and Lucas Isaacs settling in behind.
Cheevers and Muilenburg had stretched the battle for the lead out until Lile got crossed up in turn two causing a caution and putting Muilenburg right on the bumper of Cheevers. Muilenburg tried for the lead on the restart, but Cheevers was able to out horsepower him.
Lile lost control again bringing out a second caution only two laps later. This restart was not what Cheevers had planned. He upset the car in the bottom of turn three and had to get on the brakes hard. Muilenburg took the lead bringing Ethan Isaacs with him. Cheevers regained control of his racer and took second going into turn one.
One lap later, Cheevers drove his modified in too deep into turns three and four. He was trying to stay off Muilenburg and got crossed up and looped his car pulling a caution. Subsequently, Steve Bugg had also spun his car out over in turn two.
With a green, white, checkered finish, Muilenburg crossed the finish line with Ethan Isaacs, Ebert, Lucas Isaacs, and Tyler Lewis. Muilenburg forfeited the feature win to Ethan Isaacs moving everyone up one finish. This moved Cheevers into a fifth-place finish after starting tailback with only two laps left in the feature event.

In the Xtreme Motors Street Stocks, Ted Welschmeyer earned the pole position after winning his heat race. Kevin Perkins took the outside pole starting position after picking up the other heat win.
Welschmeyer took the lead as the green flag flew with Perkins in second. Junior Clancy settled into third with Jeremy Gordon right on his back bumper. Several cautions flew throughout the feature event gathering the field of cars back together after the leaders had stretched themselves from the pack.
The racing action got real interesting with just six laps to the finish of the feature. On a restart, Perkins drove right up next to Welschmeyer and they battled down the backstretch. Welschmeyer came out with the lead but Clancy was the car to watch. He drove his car in deep to turns three and four, but couldn’t make it stick. He bumped into Perkins and Clancy’s street stock made a loop coming to a halt in the turn.
Green flag flew again and Welschmeyer snuck away from the pack. With only seven cars out of 11 remaining in the event, Clancy was pulling out all the stops to make his way back to the front.
Welschmeyer took another feature win for the season with Perkins, Clancy, Gordon and Chad Eckhoff rounding out the top five finished for the evening’s event.

L A Raceway invites you to join them next Friday night for Guard Night at the Races and Military Appreciation Night at the track. The Missouri National Guard will be landing an AH-64 Apache Attack helicopter in the parking lot for spectators to view as well as some military hummers.
For more information about the track, visit http://www.laraceway.com/.

L A Raceway
May 28, 2010
Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 12V Nathan Vaughn, Lincoln, Mo. After not weighing in at the appropriate weight in tech after his heat, he was forced to start dead last.

With the completion of lap one, Muilenburg had picked off four cars already and moved into fifth by lap three. Jeremy Lile was leading the race with Billy Bentley hot on his bumper. Bentley looped his car on lap five and took his car to the pits calling it an evening.

Lile lead the field of cars on a slow restart that gave him an advantage over the battle between Muilenburg and Gary Lewis for second.

With three laps to the finish, Lile and Muilenburg made the battle personal and between them as they broke away from the field. Lile slipped up and his car drifted to the high side and Muilenburg drove right under him.

Muilenburg captured the feature win with Lile, Gary Lewis, Ernie Walker and Tyler Lewis rounding out the top finishes.

In the Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified feature, Donnie Fellers and Muilenburg started on the front row. As the green flag flew, Muilenburg took the lead with Aaron Marrant picking the same groove and followed suit.

Muilenburg continued to lead the field of cars around the tack with Arrant trying to find a way around him. Tim Setzer started tenth and was slowly picking cars off lap by lap to move him into fourth by the completion of lap six. Two laps later he took third. Luke Feeback moved into the battle for fifth place by lap eight.

After three cautions, Muilenburg continued to lead the field of cars with Marrant solidly sitting in second. Each restart from the cautions worked in Isaac Dotson favor as he moved through the pack ending in fourth with five laps to go.

Feeback pressured Fellers for fifth but each attempt was no good. Muilenburg took his second feature win of the night with Marrant, Setzer, Dotson and Fellers in the top five.

Mark Shirshekan was one proud driver after picking up his first-ever WOW win. L A Raceway has been notorious for drivers picking up first career wins such as Jonathan Cornell and Gabe Maycock.

Polesitter Eric Todd jumped to the lead in the feature event with Jay Russell right behind him. With two laps complete, Shirshekan and Tyler Blank had pushed ahead of Russell and had Todd in their sights.

Shirshekan took the lead on lap five from Todd and Blank took second from Todd just one lap later. Out of nowhere, Martin came charging forward and had taken third from Todd. A caution came out for Jon Corbin who halted in turn three putting Martin back behind Todd. Another yellow followed quickly after that when Haley Arnold spun out in turn one.

When racing resumed, Martin passed Todd with nine laps left in the feature event and worked his way into second just one lap later. The battle heated up between Todd and Blank for third as they switched positions many times. Caution once again flew over the field when Cody Baker rolled to a stop on the backstretch.

Shirshekan made the restart count as he hit the throttle to space himself from four-time WOW champion Martin. With four laps left, Todd took a solid lead over the fourth-place car of Blank.
Shirshekan sailed to the feature win with Martin and Todd in pursuit. Russell and Curtis Boyer made last lap charges and took fourth and fifth away from Blank.

Several sprint car drivers were doing double duty Friday night running in both the 305 and 360 sprint car classes. Mitchell Moore, Tyler Utz and Haley Arnold stepped out of their 360 cars and into their 305 cars throughout the night.

Ryan Schlender earned the pole position in the Gill Signs/Specialty Sportswear 305 Sprints feature event. Wednesday night’s winner Matt Close sat to his right. After a rocky start, Schlender took the lead with Mitchell Moore and Close hot on his tail.

Timothy Wheeler moved into fourth after starting eighth by the completion of lap one and Bradley Roberts was sitting in fifth. Roberts took fourth from Wheeler on lap five. Tyler Utz moved into fifth by lap seven.

It was smooth sailing to the finish as Schlender picked up his first feature win of the season at L A Raceway. Moore finished second with Close, Utz and Roberts taking top honors for the night.

Ted Welschmeyer and Sundance Keepper picked up where they left off Wednesday night. The two drivers battled hard for the feature wins with Keepper picking up his second in a row at L A.

Welschmeyer earned the pole position with Keepper to his outside. Both cars have been fast so it was up to the driver’s talents to earn the feature win.

Keepper got the lead coming out of turn two as Welschmeyer got too high in the turns. Eddie Barnes sat comfortably in third as the three-way battle for fourth was unfolding between Anthony Ward, Justin Metzner and Kevin Perkins.

Caution flew over the field as Chad Eckhoff launched himself off turn three catching quite a bit of air. He was fine and racing resumed. Welschmeyer tried to use the restart to his advantage by diving under Keeper in the turns, but Keeper’s horsepower just walked him away from Welschmeyer in the backstretch.

Laps were slowly winding down due to three cautions. Welschmeyer wasn’t giving up the battle and as the white flag flew, he was trying all the real estate he could find to get around Keepper.
Keepper took the feature win with Welschmeyer, Perkins, Barnes and Metzner topping off the field of cars.

In the Jim’s Tire Service Hobby Stock, Luke Skidmore, of Green Ridge, once again showed his talents by taking his second feature win of the season.

Skidmore started on the pole with John Simpson to his right. Skidmore quickly took the lead with Simpson falling in behind with some bump encouragements here and there through the corners. Michael Tyler set firmly in third while watching the battle in front of him and trying to stay out of the battle behind him.

On lap 11, things got interesting as Michael Hudson got loose in turns three in four allowing the three-way battle for fourth to heat up. Ronnie Livengood and Hudson bounced off each other in turn two of the final lap allowing Linvengood and Danny Crum to cross the finish line before Hudson.

Skidmore took the feature win with Simpson, Tyler, Livengood and Crum finishing in the top five.

L A Raceway invites you to join them next Friday night for the regular five classes hit the track to earn points toward being crown the season’s champion.

For more information about the track, visit http://www.laraceway.com/.

L A Raceway
May 7, 2010
Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature
1. 33 Stephen Muilenburg, Sparta, Mo. Schultz and Stephen Muilenburg battled back and forth for third while taking second from Dowell.

After completing 11 laps, the upset for McMillin happened while he was rim riding, got a little high and shot off the bank in top of turn four. He lost six positions giving Schultz the lead.

A couple more cautions bunched the field back up but Schultz continued to maintain the lead and charge to victory.

Schultz took the checkered with Muilenburg, Dowell, Donnie Fellers and McMillin making a come back to finish in the top five.

In the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified feature, Gary Lewis and Colt Cheevers were battling for the lead when Lewis got really high in turn two. His car was pulled over the berm and he regained contral down the backstretch giving up two positions. Lewis picked off Darin Claxton one lap lapter to set comfortably in third.

Cheevers worked up a significant full straight away lead over second-place Ernie Walker. Cheever took a big win over Walker, Lewis, Claxton and Ethan Mullins.

In the Xtreme Motors Street Stocks feature event, John Brooks was scheduled to start on the pole but opted to start at the tail of the field moving Kevin Perkins to the pole position. Ted Welschmeyer started on the outside of row one.

As the green flag flew, Welschmeyer and Perkins came out of turn two side by side, but Welschmeyer came up with the lead as they crossed the line completing lap one. Brooks had moved from tenth to fifth in just one lap and into third by the completion of another lap.

With five laps in the books, Brooks moved into second around Perkins and began to catch Welschmeyer who was leading comfortably. Brooks made several attemps to pass the leader in the final five laps of the race, but the unexpected happened. Just when Brooks had reeled Welschmeyer in and was going for the lead, Brooks' car erupted into smoke as the white flag flew.

Welschmeyer picked up the feature win with Perkins, Justin Metzner, Jeremy Gordon and Martin Crabtree taking the top five honors.

Mitchell Moore drove his sprinter to victory lane in the Gill Signs/Specialty Sportswear 305 Sprint feature. Chris Coleman earned the polesitter position and Moore took the outside. As the green flag flew, the red flag followed when Randall Roberts got crossed up and went for a hard ride into the top of turn one.

As the race resumed, Matt McGarry caused two cautions collecting Lacy Harrison on the first one.

Coleman got a better start the next green setting him in second behind Moore. Coleman moved his sprinter high on the backstretch on lap three and drove directly to the pits moving Ryan Schlender into second.

Two more cautions came out over the field giving Schlender the break he was looking for so she could catch Moore, but Moore is great at changin up the single-file restarts to keep the field of cars guessing if it is going to be a slow or fast start.

Tyler Utz made some last laps charges that moved him into a battle until the end with Schlender. With five laps left, he took second. Schlender was searching for some real estate that would move him faster around the track to move back into second. With two laps left, he found what he was looking for and took second back from Utz.

Moore took teh checkered with Schlender, Utz, Wheeler and Close rounding out the top five.

In the Jim's Tire Service Hobby Stocks feature event, Michael Tyler started on the pole with Brian Murphy on the outside. With the green flag flying, Murphy quickly took the lead with Tyler, Luke Skidmore, Joey Arnold and Ronnie Livengood filing out in the top five.

Skidmore put the pedal to the metal and began tracking down Murphy with Tyler setting all alone in third. As laps winded down, the most interesting battle was for fourth between Arnold, Livengood and Michael Hudson.

As the white flag came out Skidmore picked up his driving skills and stayed on Murphy's bumper. Skidmore took one last attempt to take the lead coming out of turn four and it was a drag race to the finish.

Skidmore beat Murphy to the line for the feature win. Arnold, Hudson and Livengood finished in the top five.

L A Raceway

April 16, 2010

Official Results

Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modified Feature

1. 90 Terry Schultz, Sedalia, Mo. Austin Alumbaugh was slated to start outside row two, Jonathan Cornell on the inside of row three, and Josh Fisher outside row five.

Potter had a series of unfortunate events that made him lose his starting position. After pushing off for the feature event, Potter returned to the pits and had to be pushed off again to start the feature sending him to the tail of the field. This gave Alumbaugh a great opportunity as he was moved up to outside row one.

With the green flag flying, Blank took the lead with Alumbaugh in second. Eric Todd, Cody Baker and Cornell were nipping at the tails of the two leaders.

Cornell overcame Baker on lap three and Todd took second from Alumbaugh on lap five. With seven laps completed, the leaders were moving into lap traffic. Todd passed Blank for the lead and began moving away from the field of sprinters.

Fisher was patiently waiting to make his hard-charging move as he sat in sixth place for lap one to 12. He moved into fifth and used lap traffic to his advantage.

A big event happend on lap 15 as Blank got caught behind a lap car and both Cornell and Alumbaugh rocketed past him. Todd had moved to a comfortable lead when the caution flag flew on lap 17 as David Brown went off the track in turns three and four.

The flag bunched the field back up putting Cornell, Alumbaugh and Fisher right on the tail of Todd. On the restart, Cornell made his move into the first turns and ran away from Todd down the backstretch. Fisher moved around Alumbaugh and Blank followed his suit.

Fisher made a final attempt on the last lap that successfully landed him a second place finish. Todd finished third with Alumbaugh sneaking past Blank for fourth.

Cornell's win earned him his first feature win in the Winged Outlaw Warriors circuit. He adds this honor to his 2008 Rookie of the Year and Knoxville Raceway's 2009 Rookie of the Year.

In the L A Raceway 305 Sprints, the track invited the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) to challenge the local sprint drivers. The race also counted toward the URSS points for the drivers.

Ryan Schlender started on the pole with Mitchell Moore on the outside. Both drivers have picked up several wins at L A in the years past. Alumbaugh was in the run for the 305 win but was taken off the track with a locked brake before the feature even started.

On the start of the race, cars got a little ruffled coming out of turn four and URSS Darren Bowman and Miranda Arnold got hooked up resulting in a caution. Bowman was done for the night, while Arnold was able to continue.

With three more restarts, the field finally got one lap in the books with Moore, Schlender, URSS Smokey Fairbank, Kenny Potter and URSS Ty William in the top five. Cars once again got bunched up coming out of turn two on lap two and caused a red flag condition when Arnold took a hard ride as the sprinter barrel rolled coming to rest on its side. Several cars slowed down during the accident but were able to continue on keeping their place in the race except for Haley Arnold who came to a stop and had to tag the tail of the field.

Racing got underway again and the leaders were running strong as Randall Roberts was working his way up from the tail of the field by rim riding the top of the track into seventh place. He lost control in the top of turn one and caused a caution. Potter took his car to the pits on the caution and was done for the night.

Racing resumed for one more lap when Casey Baker took a hard tumble over turn three and caused another red flag condition. When racing continued, the cushion moved up the track and the faster ride was near the top of the track.

Moore and Schlender were leading the field of cars with ease near the top of the track. Fairbank, William and Michael Schouten were rounding out the top five with half the race completed.

Schouten began to lose ground while Timothy Wheeler began to charge through the field of cars.

Moore took the checkered with Schlender, Fairbank, William and Wheeler finishing in the top five positions for the night.

Official Results

L A Raceway

Friday, April 10, 2010

Winged Outlaw Warriors 360 "A" Main (20 laps):

1. 28 Jonathan Cornell, Sedalia, Mo.

2. 86x Josh Fisher, Smithton, Mo.

3. 21t Eric Todd, Falcon, Mo.

4. 33 Austin Alumbaugh, Higginsville, Mo.

5. 75 Tyler Blank, California, Mo.

6. 72 Curtis Boyer, New Haven, Mo.

7. 44 Jon Corbin, Carrollton, Mo.

8. 14 Randy Martin, California, Mo.

9. 38 Cody Baker, Lone Jack, Mo.

10. 18 Mike Hess, Springfield, Ill.

11. 3 Mark Shirshekan, Farmington, Mo.

12. 22 Dustin Barks, Farmington, Mo.

13.18w Chris Walker, Oak Grove, Mo.

14. 14k Kyle Bellm, Nixa, Mo.

15. 88 J. Minnesota's Tommy Myer started in sixth and moved into third by lap six.

The one and only caution flag of the 40-lap event flew on lap nine. Myer used the restart to his benefit and passed Shyrock so he could pressure Payne for the lead.

With 12 laps left, the leaders began moving through lap traffic. Jason Hughes used this to his advantage as he took third from Shryock. On lap 36, Myer tried his chance and nosed under Payne coming out of turn two but Payne pushed the throttle down and walked away from the danger of losing the lead.

Payne took the feature win with Myer, Hughes, Shryock and Terry Phillips rounding out the top five finishes.

Payne has been a top competitor ever time he has ran at L A Raceway. He has started three times on the 3/8-mile oval track and captured the feature win in 2007. He took first in last year's event, but was disqualified during technical inspections and had to give up his feature win.

In the supporting Street Stock feature event, Tom Volkart, of California, Mo., took the feature win after starting outside of row one.

John Brooks started on the pole, but Volkart quickly took the lead. With the completion of lap two, Ted Welschmeyer was in third and Donald Danner was right behind him.

Danner stayed as close to Welschmeyer as possible until the time was right for him to make the move and take third place. As laps winded down, the top four drivers began spacing themselves from one another and the field of cars.

Brooks finished second with Danner, Welschmeyer and Kevin Perkins rounding ouf the top five.

Official Results
L A Raceway
Friday, April 9, 2010

Wix Filters USMTS "A" Main (40 laps):
1. 74 Jeremy Payne, Springfield, Mo.
